Why didn’t George W. Bush work on debtreduction back when times were good?

He could have left America with a lot more room to maneuver right now if he had simply done the conservative thing, and pushed for deficit control and debt reduction. Instead, he spent money like a madman, and now we have a gigantic deficit and debt even BEFORE all the new stimulus packages.

Why were Republicans dumb enough to fall for the very un-conservative George W. Bush? Why didn’t the GOP nominate an actual conservative back in 2000?

He did. He worked on undoing it. By driving down taxes and spending up.

And look how it worked out?

What makes it so laughable is that cons are complaining about people want free stuff when they were the ones spending like drunken sailors on borrowed money.

Like all Republicans he hated America. We now have a patriot in the White House so the treason is going to end.

Unfortunately every president for the last 80 years has made the same mistake, they spend more than they bring in and when they need more they just raise taxes instead of cutting spending. Unless Obama reduces drastically the size and power of the federal government he’ll be like the other presidents who just couldn’t help spending.

I think he was too busy redistributing the wealth to the military industrial complex.

news flash….times were never good enough during bushs term…especially enough to make any significant reduction in the national debt. It all began during good ol clinton with the emergence of fanniemae and freddiemac.

Basically there is no Difference between Republicans and Democrates now.

Just that democrats are more bubble raiser.
George W Bush laid the ground work for Socialism, and Chairman Obama will now rule the land of of the free and home of the brave with the red flag of Socialism.

People may say why am I accusing of America going towards Socialism? Sure there is no bloodshed, sure there is no ‘massive’ redistribution of wealth, sure there is no murders of ‘evil Capitalists’(all the signs of a Socialist Revolution), but American Economy is now as clueless about Economic calculation and planning as any socialist economy.

George W Bush will be portrayed as the Herbert Hoover of 21st century, who did nothing to save the economy.
Barack Obama will become the new Franklin D Roosevelt, bringing his plans of “New Deal” of more massive govt spending, destruction of life, liberty and property in the name of “bitter medicine to save Capitalism”.

History will be written as “President Barack Obama’s New Deal saved America and Capitalism, by increasing the role of the government in the times of crises and rectifying free markets”.

FDR’s New Deal gave birth to the largest Organized Crime syndicates of all times. Reason was simple, you ban economic activities, then outlaws will start doing those things. New Deal gave us 95% income tax to anyone making more than $250,000 per year. New Deal brought America as close to dictatorship as possible.

Do you recall a little thing called 9-11 have any idea what that cost America ? What about Katrina that was a little on the expensive side as well, how do you reduce debt when we have the two biggest disasters to hit America in such a short time? Google these tragedies and look how much of our national debt is because of them. Congress overwhelmingly voted these funds to help in these disasters. So how is it Bush’s fault that it is still in our debts, do you want him to shut down all the government services until this is paid? Just what is it that you think would have been better?
